> Alan Arkin and Frank Langella star in so-so drama.
This low-budget indie by first-time writer/director Murray Robinson has two main draws: wily veterans Alan Arkin and Frank Langella. Happily, they deliver in their roles as priests working to inspire would-be priest-in-training Jacob Pitts, but they share painfully few scenes together. Otherwise, we have a weary Pitts questioning his devotion—particularly when he meets perky Amy Acker. There’s not much drama and no laughs whatsoever, but the cast remains top-notch.
Shelf Talk: Crossroads will draw attention with Arkin, who won an Oscar for his turn in Little Miss Sunshine, and Langella, who is sure to be Oscar bait in the high-profile Frost/Nixon, which opens on Dec. 5.
