Water doc Flow comes to DVD

By Wendy Wilson -- Video Business, 11/11/2008

Nov. 11 | Flow, a documentary about the reasons behind the world’s shrinking water supply and the work being done to address it, will be released on DVD Dec. 9 (order now).
A film festival favorite, director Irena Salina’s documentary detailing the governmental and corporate concerns behind the “grab” for fresh water around the world will have a presence in Blockbuster and Hollywood stores. A company spokesman for Flow distributor Oscilloscope Pictures said Barnes & Noble also has committed to merchandising the title on its stores’ new release wall.
Flow also will be the focus of a direct marketing initiative offering special group discounts to environmental interest groups.
Extras included on the disc are a commentary with director Salina, extended interviews with some of the scientists and activists featured in the film and a collection of vintage public service announcements about water from the first half of the 20th century. Flow also features a resource guide, offering viewers suggestions for how to become involved in the discussion about the increasing privatization of the world’s fresh water resources.
The title will arrive at retail in all-paper packaging; Forest Council certified (from sustainable forests) and from 80% recycled materials.
Flow carries a suggested retail price of $29.99.
