> Space and time-traveling doctor hunts for a lost starship in this animated adventure.
The evergreen BBC franchise turns animated with this fast-moving cartoon feature, which first saw the light of day as a serial on a British Doctor Who children’s series. The plot reflects the live-action series’ vibrant imagination and silly sense of humor, as the good doctor (voiced by David Tennant, who plays the titular character in the new live-action series) and his sidekick Martha (Freema Agyeman) search for a lost starship, which also is sought after by archenemy Baltazar. The only complaint Who fans will have is that Infinite Quest should be longer—the plot skips along pretty frantically, and the final showdown between Dr. Who and Baltazar seems rushed.
Shelf Talk: Dr. Who remains the pre-eminent British sci-fi phenomenon in the U.S., with a Saturday night primetime slot for the new episodes on BBC America, plus airings on the Sci Fi Channel. Who fans are active on several major ’Net communities, including MySpace and YouTube, so they will be well aware of Infinite Quest’s release (and its behind-the-scenes supplements).
