> Sexuality meets literacy in this heated male fantasy.
A sequel of sorts to 1987’s The Trouble With Dick, Crashing focuses on the travails of writer Richard MacMurray (Campbell Scott), who has been kicked out of his house by his wife and is unable to complete his second novel. He’s invited by two writing students (Lizzy Caplan, Izabella Miko) to share their apartment, and the three-way friendship leads to some kinky and awkward situations that MacMurray hopes can spark his writing. Though similar to Wonder Boys and Smart People, Crashing has more erotic thrills and a high tease factor.
Shelf Talk: Lack of theatrical exposure and a generic title works against Crashing, but its provocative cover shot of a blonde can help it overcome these shortcomings. Caplan (Cloverfield) and Miko (Coyote Ugly) are definite draws for those seeking the spicier elements of the film.
