> Sitcom-like farce about a rowdy, chaotic heiress.
This 2005 comedy plays like an amiable and amusing sitcom pilot stretched out to feature length. Character actress Lisa Ann Walter (Drillbit Taylor) stars as a rowdy middle-age heiress whose funds are cut off by her no-nonsense father (Kurtwood Smith). Playing the back-slapping, fast-talking heroine, Walter shows a flair for this kind of broad comedy, while the always reliable Smith offers a calmer, more urbane version of his dad character in That ’70s Show.
Shelf Talk: Walter is a familiar face from her movie and TV appearances, but Smith is the most recognizable member of the cast. His presence, plus the fact that Walter is playing a more family-friendly version of Married With Children’s Peg Bundy, makes this a title to pitch to sitcom addicts and viewers looking for a non-teen-oriented comedy.
