Disney classics slated for Blu-ray

Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia expected in the next two years

AUG. 27 | Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will be releasing six animated classics, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio and Beauty and the Beast on Blu-ray over the next two years.

These titles, also including Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, will all bow following the release of previously announced Sleeping Beauty on Blu-ray on Oct. 7. Street dates and pricing haven’t been specified for the forthcoming animated films.

All titles will pack similar BD Live interactivity as Sleeping Beauty, including in-movie chatting and gaming. Viewers also can create movie mail, uploading photos of themselves into film scenes and sending them to friends.

As home to so many of these family films, Disney is considered critical in pushing Blu-ray adoption into the mainstream.
