> The songbird moves from jazz to country and back for Austin City Limits.
The multi-Grammy winner runs through her repertoire in this mellow, thoroughly enjoyable June 2007 concert. The show was taped for the PBS series Austin City Limits but aired in a truncated half-hour version. In this longer rendition, we see Jones’ smooth jazz-vocalist side as well as her affinity for country music, solidified in her covers of Roy Orbison and Willie Nelson. New West has released a limited-edition vinyl of this show.
Shelf Talk: Though not a musical “It Girl” any longer, Jones has remained popular, with high record sales (her third album reached No. 1 in 2007) and live performances selling very well. She also attracted attention (some of it good, some mixed) with her recent starring turn in Wong Kar-Wai’s My Blueberry Nights.
