Batman Begins DVD sales jump on Knight
Sell-through quadruples, rentals lift 76%

JULY 24 | DVD sales of Batman Begins more than quadrupled for the week ended July 20 on the record-setting opening weekend of its sequel, The Dark Knight, and the week-earlier debut of Begins on Blu-ray Disc and in a special DVD gift set, according to Rentrak.
DVD rentals of Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, which was released in theaters in 2005 and also starred Christian Bale, jumped 76% from a week earlier, Rentrak said.
The Dark Knight, which features actor Heath Ledger’s final film role, portraying the Joker, set a non-holiday weekend box-office record by grossing $158.4 million, according to Rentrak.
Warner Home Video's Batman Begins debuted on standard DVD in October 2005 and on HD DVD a year later. The film grossed $205 million during its four-month theatrical run in 2005.
