MARCH 31 | National Lampoon is about to release its second DVD since taking back its name last year with Jake’s Booty Call.

The company had been licensing its name to others but is now producing and acquiring its own films, according to Tom Daniels, National Lampoon president. “We’re taking back the brand,” he says.
The company expects to have four original productions per year along with eight to 12 acquisitions, many of which will be released theatrically in addition to DVD.
National Lampoon also has increased its efforts in other mediums, according to Daniels, including an output deal with Comedy Central, international deals, XM radio, an Internet network and more.
It will be followed in May by Electric Apricot, a jam band spoof, and in June by the company’s first in-house production, Bag Boy.
“We’re looking for things that will service our demographic,” says Daniels.
That demographic is mainly the age 18-34 crowd but also includes those 45-60 who are fans of Animal House and Vacation.
