Koch to deliver tween hit Life With Derek to DVD

By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 4/3/2008

APRIL 3 | Koch Vision has signed on to distribute Shaftesbury Films’ Life With Derek on DVD this fourth quarter.

Under the pact’s terms, Koch has plans to release the TV series’ first three seasons, totaling 52 half-hour episodes, in North America.

Currently, Life With Derek airs in more than 100 countries, including on The Disney Channel in the U.S. It follows two teenagers who struggle living together as part of a blended family.

“Over the past few years, there has been an explosion in tween entertainment, and Life With Derek is a perfect example of the genre at its best,” said Michael Rosenberg, president of Koch Vision parent Koch Entertainment. “As we continue to expand the Koch Vision catalog, we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to distribute such high-profile, family-friendly programming.”

Shane Kinnear, VP of marketing and sales for Shaftesbury added, “Life With Derek has a proven track record for consistently delivering great ratings and enduring entertainment for the tween and family audience. Koch will be invaluable as they take our brand into home entertainment.”
