NOV. 26 | Retro CD and DVD label Rhino Entertainment is rolling out a temporary retail store in Los Angeles during the holidays.
Located near the city’s The Grove outdoor mall, the Rhino ‘pop-up’ store will offer much of the same merchandise offered through Rhino’s direct-to-consumer Web site. Among the currently featured DVD items at Rhino.com are Barry Manilow: The First Television Specials and Ramones—It’s Alive 1974-1996.
The Rhino pop-up will open Dec. 1, operating seven days a week from noon to 8 p.m. It will shut its doors on Dec. 31.
Although many shoppers prefer shopping online, Rhino management believes people still crave the traditional in-store record shopping experience.
“The Rhino pop-up store is a great way for us to connect directly with our consumers and to remind them of all the good reasons to continue to support our local record stores,” said Scott Pascucci, Rhino Entertainment president. “For those of us old enough to remember, Rhino started as a record store. So now we come full circle, even if only for one month at the holidays. If you’re in the neighborhood, we hope you will stop by.”
To enhance browsing, Rhino will feature several live deejay music sets at the store and offer a variety of contests.
