iTunes offers John Lennon Video Album on card

By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 11/26/2007

The Digital Release card is sold at various retailers.

NOV. 26 | Starbucks will be exclusively offering the John Lennon Video Album as an iTunes Digital Release card on Dec. 4.

John Lennon represents the first music video title released in this Digital Release card format, which iTunes launched at various retailers in October. The cards are activated at store cash registers, then buyers can type in the card’s access code to download the content from the iTunes Store.

Priced at $24.99, John Lennon features 21 music videos, including “Imagine,” “Woman,” “Happy Xmas,” “(Just Like) Starting Over,” “Nobody Told Me” and “Mind Games.”

Capitol/EMI Music Marketing is co-releasing the John Lennon Digital Release with iTunes.

Similar to iTunes music purchases, consumers can play the John Lennon album directly from their computers or burn the tracks onto physical media, which in this case is a DVD.

Starbucks also is exclusively offering Capitol/EMI iTunes Digital Release cards for KT Tunstall’s Drastic Fantastic and Eddie Vedder’s soundtrack for the film Into the Wild.
