TNR adds 50 DVD rental kiosks in California

Company expanded into five West Coast states this year

By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 5/14/2007

MAY 14 | TNR Entertainment has pushed farther into California with its DVD rental machines, slotting 50 additional kiosks at grocery locations throughout the state.

This latest batch of installments is creating new markets for TNR, spanning such Northern/Central California cities as Fresno, Sacramento, Salinas and Santa Maria, plus such southern spots as Cathedral City, Chula Vista, Downey, Escondido, Oxnard and Pasadena.

Fontana, Indio, Lancaster, North Hollywood, Ontario, Palmdale, Torrance and Victorville also are slated for TNR machines.

Branded The New Release, TNR machines are now in 161 California locations within Ralph’s, Food 4 Less and FoodsCo grocers.

“The western U.S. has become one of TNR’s biggest geographic regions, particularly California, and we consider this expansion as simply the beginning, based on the exceptional customer acceptance of the rental kiosk concept and our strong relationship with Kroger [parent of Ralph’s and others],” said Jeff Karbowiak, TNR chief operating officer. “We plan on significant further West Coast expansion for the company.”

Through this year, TNR will have moved into five West Coast states for the first time: Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Oregon and California. Last month, it added 75 locations in the southeastern U.S.

TNR now numbers 1,600 kiosks nationwide.
