FEB. 12 | Digital download company Azureus has inked a deal with Starz Media to sell films on its soon-to-be-launched movie download site.
The deal includes movies from Starz’s anime-heavy library such as Street Fighter Alpha, Ghost in the Shell and Astroboy. It doesn’t include any studio-owned films that Starz licenses for its cable channel or Internet movie download site Vongo.
In December, Azureus signed a deal with the BBC to offer films on its service, which is code named Zudeo. Zudeo is due to launch by the end of the first quarter as an open system so that content owners can upload content on the site and choose whether they want to sell copies, rent copies or offer content as a promotion.
