National Lampoon's Pledge This!

By Cyril Pearl -- Video Business, 12/11/2006

Story Line: An evil sorority queen (Paris Hilton) at trendy South Beach University plots to sabotage the pledging efforts of the latest crop of freshmen, while attempting to elevate herself to national icon status.

Bottom Line: This latest "National Lampoon Presents" project was actually filmed in 2004 and initially positioned to be one of Hilton's first starring roles. But reported production difficulties, not to mention Hilton's alleged anger over not wanting any nudity in the film (she's not nude but plenty of other women are), pushed back the movie's release. It's a silly sorority outing that plays like a blonder, more elitist version of the 1979 drive-in favorite H.O.T.S. Pledge This! is mainly for those who can't get enough of the blonde heiress, who apparently limits her nude appearances to homemade videotapes that make it onto the Internet (although she does have a handful of raunchy scenes in which she's clad in the skimpiest of lingerie). More than a dozen producers are credited for this movie (including Hilton), and we're still trying to figure out why.

Color, NR/R (sexual situations, nudity, language), 91 min./88 min., DVD $26.99
