Nov. 16 | Days after Wal-Mart announced plans for its most aggressive holiday discounting, Amazon.com said it will let customers vote on some deep discounts it will offer this holiday season. During the next four weeks, Amazon customers can vote on a set of deals on popular holiday gift items announced on the site's home page each Thursday.
This week’s deals include an Xbox 360 core system for $100; a Mongoose Mountain Bike for $100; a Barbie Interactive Princess for $10; or $100 in toys and a one-year membership to AmazonPrime shipping for $40. Customers can vote on deals through the following Tuesday, with the winning offerings available on Thursday of each week.
Amazon will offer a limited number of the winning deal. For example, the company will offer 1,000 Xbox 360s for $100 if that deal is chosen.
Customers can vote once a week but can campaign friends and family by e-mail.
Amazon will offer deals on portable DVD players and a 26-inch LCD HDTV in the coming weeks.
