SEPT. 5 | Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has slotted its highest-grossing 2006 film, The Da Vinci Code, for DVD release on Nov. 14.
The two-disc set of the film, which grossed $750 million worldwide, includes more than 90 minutes of special features, including several featurettes with director Ron Howard and cast members.
Priced at $29.96, the title has a prebook date of Oct. 12. A gift set, bundling a reproduction of Robert Langdon’s journal, is set at $80.95. Da Vinci Code also will street for the PlayStation Portable on Nov. 14 at $28.95.
Despite Sony’s commitment to building the Blu-ray Disc format, The Da Vinci Code will not be released on Blu-ray simultaneously with its standard DVD. Filmmakers continue to prep Blu-ray bonus features, and Sony has not yet determined its release date on this format.
“We really felt it really required an appropriate amount of time to create the best Blu-ray release possible,” Sony senior VP Fritz Friedman said. “It will be well worth the wait.”
