AUG. 22 | MGM Studios made its iTunes debut Monday with episodes of sci-fi series Stargate: SG-1 and sequel Stargate: Atlantis.
The first five episodes from the latest seasons of both shows are online now, and subsequent episodes will be available for download within 24 hours of their broadcast on the Sci Fi Channel.
The studio called the move the first step in its electronic distribution strategy.
“By making these popular series available through iTunes, we’re able to extend the reach of the MGM brand and the Stargate franchise,” said Doug Lee, MGM new media division executive VP. “We’re always delighted to enhance the consumer’s experience of our popular content and see this as a win all the way around.”
Lee joined MGM as part of its new media division, which the company formed in April to move its library into new distribution platforms.
