Charlie Rose blooms on CustomFlix

More than 1,000 episodes of interview show available for order

By Jennifer Netherby -- Video Business, 8/21/2006

AUG. 21 | More than 1,000 episodes of The Charlie Rose Show will be made available through Amazon.com subsidiary CustomFlix’s DVD on Demand service following a deal between CustomFlix and Charlie Rose.

Select episodes of the interview show dating back to 1994 will be available for order, with new shows available after their initial broadcast. Thousands of additional episodes will be added in the coming months.

“For years, The Charlie Rose Show has been looking for a way to offer current and past programs quickly and reliably to viewers who want them,” Rose said in a statement announcing the deal. “Amazon.com and CustomFlix have developed an efficient and cost-effective way of doing just that. Now our viewers can order and receive a DVD of the programs of their choice in just a matter of days.”

Episodes of The Charlie Rose Show are already sold on Google Video, but those can’t be transferred to DVD.

Episodes available through CustomFlix include interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Ted Turner and Bill Clinton. Amazon is selling episodes through a customized store at www.amazon.com/charlierose.

CustomFlix makes DVDs on demand and began offering niche TV episodes for sale in April with content deals from NBC, A&E and PBS.

CustomFlix added episodes of 60 Minutes and other CBS news shows in July.
