Redbox moving into two more markets

EMX: Rental kiosks planned for Seattle, Oklahoma City McDonald's

By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 8/8/2006

AUG. 8 | UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif.—DVD rental kiosk maker Redbox is planning a growth spurt over the next several years, said VP of operations Tim Hale.

Speaking here during an Entertainment Media Expo session called “What’s Going On Inside the Box,” Hale said Redbox machines will be installed into two new McDonald’s markets by December, Seattle and Oklahoma City.

At year’s end, he estimated that Redbox machines will be in 2,000 locations, including restaurants and grocery stores.

Hale said the company hopes to expand into another 3,000 locations in 2007, and in five years, Redbox hopes to be in 20,000 locations worldwide.
