JULY 12 | LAS VEGAS—Warner Home Video will debut its first four films on Blu-ray Disc Aug. 1, making it the third studio to release movies on the just-launched high-def format.
Critically-acclaimed George Clooney pic Good Night, and Good Luck will make its high-def debut on Blu-ray along with Training Day, Rumor Has It… and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Warner already released the latter three on HD DVD.
Similar to its HD DVD releases, Warner’s Blu-ray discs will include new menus that allow users to access menus while the movie is in play.
“These initial Blu-ray titles demonstrate the superb quality of high-definition across a range of genres, providing consumers with a cinema quality experience from the comfort of their homes,” said WHV president Ron Sanders.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Lionsgate both debuted movies on Blu-ray in late June. Other Blu-ray studio backers—20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, Buena Vista Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment—have yet to announce release plans.
