MAY 4 | For the first time, the three initial Star Wars films will be available in their original form and individually on DVD.

The new two-disc sets of Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V—The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI—Return of the Jedi feature both the original and remastered film versions.

Each street Sept. 12 (prebook Aug. 16) from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment priced at $29.98 apiece and will be available only until Dec. 31.

Commentary from George Lucas and other cast and crew members is featured on each DVD.

Fox bowed the Star Wars Trilogy in 2004 as a set that contained remastered versions of the films with new scenes. The DVD collection listed at $69.98.

“Over the years, a truly countless number of fans have told us that they would love to see and own the original versions that they remember experiencing in theaters,” said Jim Ward, LucasArts president and Lucasfilm senior VP.

The new DVDs are timed to the release of the videogame LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, which also streets Sept. 12.
