Magiera back at Video Business

As magazine restructures, shifts focus to better cover industry

JAN. 24 | Former editor Marcy Magiera is returning to Video Business as editorial general manager.

Reflecting changes occurring within the home entertainment marketplace, Video Business is refocusing its product and editorial strategies on its core industry-leading print product and expanding the property’s suite of online information services, beginning with VideoBusiness.com.

Magiera was editor of VB from 1998 to 2005, leaving briefly to work as a consultant for the magazine and spend more time with her family.

In her new role, Magiera will set the magazine’s editorial direction and will lead VB’s newsgathering efforts in new and existing coverage areas. She also will work closely with senior columnist Paul Sweeting to develop new electronic initiatives in the burgeoning area of digital content delivery.

As a result of this shift in focus and restructuring, VB sister publication DVD Exclusive magazine has ceased publication with the January issue and editor-in-chief Scott Hettrick and editor Carl DiOrio have left the publication.

“Over the last five years of his most recent tenure with Video Business, Scott Hettrick has proven himself to be a voice of integrity and a tireless advocate for the home entertainment industry,” said Kevin Davis, publisher of VB and group publisher of Reed Business Information’s Home Entertainment Group. “I thank Scott and Carl for the rich contributions they’ve made to Video Business over the past several years and wish them well in their future endeavors.”
