Fans might be disappointed with the limited extras package Fox has put together for the DVD of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, last summer's action-filled romantic comedy starring the consistently tabloid-worthy Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The film looks and sounds great, with the voices at just the right level and the gun shots blaring, but that's where the greatness ends. Starting off the supplements is the "Making of a Scene" featurette by Sam Hurwitz that truly warrants the word "featurette"—its running time is less than eight minutes. It offers up some interesting stories of happy accidents during shooting, but surely there was more. Three deleted scenes are listed, but two of them are really just extended sections from the movie. The only substantial part of the supplemental menu comes in the form of commentaries. Three are included: director Doug Liman and writer Simon Kinberg in one; producers Akiva Goldsman and Lucas Foster in another; and editor Michael Tronick, production designer Jeff Mann and visual effects supervisor Kevin Elam rounding them out. The producers' chat is the most fun, as the high energy Goldsman and Foster reveal plenty of behind-the-scenes secrets while throwing in some jokes. Of course, as producers will, they fill in the blanks with their share of "He's a genius" remarks. Unfortunately—but not surprisingly—there's no sign of Brangelina. Maybe after some time has passed, they'll reveal all on a special edition.
