Sony, Fox, Lions Gate move titles to Monday, Dec. 26

By Jennifer Netherby -- Video Business, 11/2/2005

NOV. 2 | Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Lions Gate Home Entertainment are bumping up the release dates on DVDs due out Tuesday, Dec. 27, to Monday, Dec. 26, to take advantage of the heavy flow of day after Christmas shoppers.

Sony will move up Jessica Alba drama Into the Blue to Dec. 26. Lions Gate will release Werner Herzog documentary Grizzly Man, DVD premiere Undiscovered starring Carrie Fisher and pop star Ashlee Simpson and Tyler Perry play Diary of a Mad Black Woman on that date. And Fox will put out TV show The Shield—The Complete Fourth Season on Dec. 26.

The studios follow Buena Vista Home Entertainment and Universal Studios Home Entertainment, which already had positioned releases for that Monday. Buena Vista is putting out thriller Dark Water and a special edition of Toy Story 2 that day, while Universal will release American Pie Presents: Band Camp and Seaquest DSV: Season One.
