Fox is releasing both R-rated and unrated versions of The Girl Next Door on DVD as if to indicate one may be more acceptable to parents than the other. The film is essentially the same on both releases--it's the bonus material that gets a bit raunchier. The raunch comes courtesy of commentary-enhanced deleted and extended scenes that feature fleeting nudity, but not Cuthbert's. Director Luke Greenfield is lively and informative, and he speaks openly about his film, which is actually a bit more sophisticated and adult than its storyline and teen cast would make it seem.
